The Vanessa Grant School (VGS) provides a safe and friendly boarding facility for children with mild to severe mental disabilities, between the ages of 6 and 15. At the school, the children develop enough skills to enable them to contribute to their community. Through generous support from international sponsors, there are now forty special needs children attending the VGS. By sponsoring a child at the VGS you will be helping us provide the resources needed for their education and skill development, as well as making it possible for us to supplement their diet with added protein, pay for additional carers, and provide medical treatment where necessary.
The following one-off sponsorship amount will enable one child to attend four years of boarding school at the VGS Special Needs School.

The Vanessa Grant School has recently been described as a “model special needs school”, with some of the best equipped facilities in Kenya.
Children attending the VGS tend to come from needy families. The fees that parents are required to pay contribute to the living costs of children boarding at the school rather than for their education, (which is covered by the Kenyan Government).
The cost to parents of sending a child to the VGS for a year is a paltry amount by Western standards, yet in reality few families in Kenya can afford to pay them. Some pay what they can, others bring foodstuffs from their garden or contribute a sheep or a goat. By choosing to sponsor a child through their four years at the VGS (Special Needs), you are giving one of these children the chance to reach their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment. We ask that you commit to the full four year sponsorship amount as the consequences of cancelling a sponsorship half way through a child’s schooling and residential care would be quite disruptive and potentially damaging.
