St Michaels Nursery School has helped many families in the Rongai community give their children a strong start to learning, often encouraging parents to be involved with early literacy programs with their children.
In its early days, St Michael’s Nursery School consisted of a small group of preschool-aged children being taught by local teacher Agnes, from a tin hut on some rented land on the outskirts of Rongai. After funds were raised by the VGT, a small plot of land was purchased for the school, buildings were erected and the school officially opened for 80 children in 2012. More than 100 children are now at this model nursery school.
Further funds raised by the VGT enabled the building of a small kitchen, an extra classroom and the purchase of land for a playground adjacent. S Michael’s is developing strongly!
